This is an awesome piece of writing. I may have said this before, but I very much admire your talent with imagery. Here, I don't quite know how you made the raw, bleak angst shine through a canvas of gorgeous words, but I do know that the combination made Alex's pain real and palpable, and the writing a true painful pleasure to read.
