This is such an amazing insight into Alex's pain and shell-shock. You not only made me believe every single word of it, but also made me feel beyond sorry for him (please don't tell him though ;) ).

The OR is off limits but he has no desire to go there anyway and the pit is a suffocating blanket of sights and sounds and heady recollections that are still too raw and wrenching and so he takes up residence in the clinic, tries not to think too much about the reason it exists or where she might be or why she hasn't called him. - So, so heartbreaking. :(

I love your very original, interesting spin on the triangle, re. the "pack mentality", the living arrangements, the suffocating scrutiny. This would hurt all of them so much, but yeah, it's perfectly plausible indeed! And don't get me started on how much I wanted to yell at Mark and Lexie!

But on the other hand, your awesome, beautifully phrased Alex POV perceptions of Mark (air of invincibility, oddly determined to celebrate his existence, delicate touch and many others) also put a huge smile on my face, because I'm totally abusing them for the construction of the A/M ship. I hope you don't mind. ;-)
