He offers up a quick one shouldered shrug.

Aims for causal; nonchalant.

Fails dismally.

“Because it’s okay you know… if you’re not.... good.”

He frowns. Feigns confusion despite unbridled clarity.

The elevator doors slide to a smooth close and Jackson disappears into the void. A faded mirage of pity and concern.

Fuck.

He doesn’t want to be this person. He’s never been this person. He spent his whole life running from becoming this person.

He makes a vow with himself, jabs a finger at the call button.

This time… this time he’ll get in...

... maybe.

You know, I thought I'd read all of your GA fics, but I don't remember this one at all. You totally called it--Alex being afraid to use the elevator. I'm so excited about this in episode three. heeee

And yes, I would love to see Alex and Percy establish some sort of friendship. There's lots of guy love with the Attendings, but no real guy friendships established with the Residents.

I would LOVE some Alex/Jackson friendship and bonding... I remember talking to some of the others about what these two will have in common at this stage... they're both the only males left from their cohort and it's happened to both of them under shocking circumstances... (George and now, Charles). They're both single but kinda in love (?) with someone (Izzie and Cristina) who doesn't want them back...
